A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR CAPTAIN DANIEL C. HENNIGAN, UNITED STATES ARMY RETIRED, OF LEXINGTON COUNTY AND TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS EXTRAORDINARY VOLUNTEER SERVICE TO HIS COMMUNITY, TO OUR STATE, AND TO THIS NATION.
Whereas, it is altogether fitting and proper that the members of the South Carolina General Assembly should pause in their deliberations to commend Captain Daniel C. "Dan" Hennigan, a totally disabled veteran who spends a copious amount of his time and energy in volunteering for the benefit of his fellow man; and
Whereas, he supports his local community as the program chairman of the Lexington Rotary Club and as a board member of the Harbour Watch community. He also serves as a board member of the Celebrate Freedom Foundation, an educational outreach program, which focuses on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and which is dedicated to enhancing the performance, success, and personal growth of young people; and
Whereas, medically retired, Dan Hennigan devotes a considerable amount of his volunteer service to help fellow veterans; and
Whereas, a South Carolina National Guard Senior State Ambassador, he honors World War II military veterans as a board member of the Honor Flight of South Carolina and serves as a board member of the United Services Organization (USO); and
Whereas, Mr. Hennigan serves on the advisory board of the South Carolina Honorary Deputy Sheriff and Lexington County Sheriff's Department (LCSD) Sheriff Foundation, and he is the founder and chairman of the South Carolina First Responders Remembrance 9/11 Memorial and the founder of the South Carolina Remembers 9/11 Student Essay Project with the New York City Fire Department (FDNY); and
Whereas, Mr. Hennigan has been named a San Francisco Honorary Police Chief and an FDNY Honorary Battalion Chief; and
Whereas, he serves as the chairman of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Cure "Ride For Kids" and as a board member of the Boy Scouts of America; and
Whereas, together with his beloved wife, Cindi, Dan Hennigan reared two fine sons, Bryan and Jason; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are grateful for the outstanding volunteer service of this dedicated citizen, whose service addresses needs in our communities that would likely not be addressed without volunteer effort and whose life teaches the noble characteristic of service above self. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor Captain Daniel C. Hennigan, United States Army retired, of Lexington County and commend him for his extraordinary volunteer service to his community, to our State, and to this nation.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Captain Daniel C. Hennigan, United States Army retired.
