A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE BATESBURG-LEESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL PANTHER BAND FOR AN OUTSTANDING PERFORMING SEASON AND TO WISH THEM SUCCESS AS THEY TRAVEL TO ENGLAND FOR THE LONDON NEW YEAR'S DAY PARADE.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to learn that the Batesburg-Leesville High School Panther Band has been invited to perform at the 2015 London New Year's Day Parade; and
Whereas, strong in tradition and success, the Batesburg-Leesville High School Panther Band has won numerous awards including the 2008, 2010, and 2011 South Carolina Band Director's Association (SCBDA) State Marching Band championships; and
Whereas, in addition to these accolades, the Panther Band has received the SCBDA Outstanding Performance Award eight times in the last ten years; and
Whereas, the Batesburg-Leesville High School Panther Band has performed in venues throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands; and
Whereas, the Panther Band will represent South Carolina and the United States on the first day of 2015 at the London New Year's Day Parade; and
Whereas, in a field that demands discipline, practice, and stamina, Director of Bands Dustin King, along with Cissy Terlizzi, assistant director of bands; Sara Skipper, instructor of guard ensembles; and Kimberly Donovan, instructor, capitalized on his own musical talent and training to build an outstanding band program and teach these students lessons that will last beyond the marching field; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Senate appreciates the pride and recognition that the members of the Batesburg-Leesville High School Panther Band have brought to their school and to their community and look to hear of their continued success in the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Batesburg-Leesville High School Panther Band for an outstanding performing season and wish them success as they travel to England for the London New Year's Day Parade.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Director of Bands Dustin King.
