A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS PROFOUND SORROW UPON THE PASSING OF ARTHUR CARL NUTTALL AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Carl Nuttall on August 5, 2021; and
Whereas, a native of Seneca, Carl was born on March 6, 1950 to parents Mary Ann Blackwell Nuttall and Arthur Nuttall, Jr. He was an alumnus of The Citadel, where he obtained his degree in physical education, and of the United States Army War College; and
Whereas, a distinguished veteran of the United States Army, Carl retired as Brigadier General for the United States Army Reserve in July 2016. He served as Executive Officer of the 457th Chemical Battalion in Saudi Arabia, among other accomplishments; and
Whereas, Carl was a sales representative at Nuttall Insurance in Seneca for forty years; and
Whereas, over the years, Carl received a number of honors and awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal in honor of his military service; and
Whereas, a devout Christian, he was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church; and
Whereas, in his free time, he enjoyed spending time with family, attending Citadel football games, listening to beach music, and dancing; and
Whereas, Carl leaves to cherish his memory his wife of forty-eight years, Anne McCoy Nuttall; his children, Russ and Leslie Nuttall and James and Anna Nuttall; his grandchildren, Elli Grace Nuttall and Emily Nuttall; and his siblings, Steve and Myra Nuttall and Rusty and Luanne Nuttall. He will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the passing of Arthur Carl Nuttall and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carl Nuttall.
