A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE Louise Goodwin Mack ON THE OCCASION OF HER ninetieth BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MUCH HAPPINESS IN THE DAYS AHEAD.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to learn that Louise Goodwin Mack will celebrate this important milestone on May 6, 2024; and

 

Whereas, a native of Bowman, Mrs. Mack was born on May 6, 1934 to parents Jake Goodwin Sr. and Lizzie White Goodwin. She attended Bowman Rosenwald School under the guidance of former Principal E. L. Gadson; and

 

Whereas, while at the Bowman School, which only went to the eighth grade, she played basketball and wrote poems as a youth. Her poems were requested by many in the community who adored her writings. She was also noted for her spelling abilities, winning the class competition every Friday; and

 

Whereas, after her formal education days, Mrs. Mack moved to Washington, where she worked for several years. When her mother became ill, Mrs. Mack moved back to her birth community to care for her mother; and

 

Whereas, Mrs. Mack married Albert Mack in 1950, and together, they had eight children; twenty-five grandchildren; fifty-seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and

 

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate takes great pleasure in honoring this daughter of South Carolina at the celebration of her ninetieth birthday and is pleased to join with her family and friends in congratulating her.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Louise Goodwin Mack on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and much happiness in the days ahead.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Louise Goodwin Mack.
