A concurrent RESOLUTION
TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME the roundabout at Fort Johnson Road and Harbor View Road in Charleston County "Inez Brown Crouch Roundabout" AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS AT THIS LOCATION CONTAINING THE DESIGNATION.
Whereas, a native of Charleston County, Ms. Inez Brown Crouch has served on the James Island Public Service District since 1998; and
Whereas, the James Island Public Service District serves under the direction of an elected commission as a special purpose district. The JIPSD is responsible for providing fire and rescue services, solid waste, and wastewater services to residents in the unincorporated areas of James Island as well as the residents of the town of James Island, and some residents of the cities of Charleston and Folly Beach; and
Whereas, Ms. Crouch played a significant role in the founding of the town of James Island. She is a volunteer in local schools, and she is active in the Honey Hill neighborhood association; and
Whereas, it would be only fitting and proper to pay tribute to this daughter of South Carolina by naming a portion of road in the State in her honor. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, request that the Department of Transportation name the roundabout at Fort Johnson Road and Harbor View Road in Charleston County "Inez Brown Crouch Roundabout" and erect appropriate markers or signs at this location containing the designation.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation and presented to Inez Brown Crouch.
