Amend CSHB 90 (house committee printing) as follows:

(1)  On page 2, line 2, between "died" and "while", insert "on or after March 6, 2021,".

(2)  On page 6, strike lines 1 through 7 and substitute the following:

SECTION 9.  (a) In this section, "state active duty" and "Texas military forces" have the meanings assigned by Section 437.001, Government Code.

(b)  Notwithstanding any other law, a survivor of an individual who was a member of the Texas military forces and who, on or after the date the governor directed the Department of Public Safety to initiate Operation Lone Star under Chapter 437, Government Code, but before the effective date of this Act, died while on state active duty is, subject to the requirements of Section 615.024, Government Code, as added by this Act, eligible for the benefits described by that section.

(3)  On page 6, line 8, strike "(b)" and substitute "(c)".
