Amend CSHB 900 (house committee printing) on page 2, line 24, between the underlined semicolon and "and", by inserting the following appropriately lettered paragraphs and relettering subsequent paragraphs accordingly:

(____)  recognizes the essential role school libraries play as centers for voluntary inquiry;

(____)  recognizes that reading is an important educational goal for all students regardless of which material they choose to read;
