FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 20, 2021

TO:
Honorable Charles Perry, Chair, Senate Committee on Water, Agriculture & Rural Affairs

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2710 by Bowers (Relating to an exemption to the cancellation of a water right for nonuse.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Water Code to exempt certain permits and filings from cancellation of a water right for nonuse if the nonuse resulted from an executed temporary or permanent forbearance agreement as defined in the bill. Based on the analysis of the TCEQ, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed with existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
