relating to requiring the use of display timers with certain | ||
traffic-control signals. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 707.003, Transportation Code, is amended | ||
by adding Subsection (i) to read as follows: | ||
(i) A local authority shall install a timer at each | ||
intersection at which a photographic traffic signal enforcement | ||
system is in active use that displays the number of seconds that | ||
remain before the traffic-control signal changes. The timer must | ||
be easily readable to any operator approaching the intersection | ||
with illuminated numbers not less than 12 inches high. | ||
SECTION 2. A municipality or a local authority, as defined | ||
by Section 541.002, Transportation Code, shall ensure that a | ||
photographic traffic signal enforcement system that was installed | ||
by the municipality or local authority before the effective date of | ||
this Act complies with this Act not later than September 1, 2012. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
