	A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
	AN ACT
	relating to the process for filling a vacancy on the board of
	certain property owners' associations.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
	SECTION 1. Section 209.00593(a), Property Code, is amended
	to read as follows:
	(a) Notwithstanding any provision in a dedicatory
	instrument, any board member whose term has expired must be elected
	by owners who are members of the property owners' association.
	If [~~A board member may be appointed by the board to fill~~] a vacancy
	occurs on the board, the board shall order a special election to
	fill the vacancy. A board member elected [~~appointed~~] to fill a
	vacant position shall serve until the next regular election of
	members to the board [~~for the remainder of the unexpired term of the~~
	~~position~~].
	SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
