relating to the use of safety guards or flaps on certain buses. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 547.606, Transportation Code, is amended | ||
by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to read as | ||
follows: | ||
(a) This section applies only to: | ||
(1) a school bus, a school activity bus, or a | ||
multifunctional school activity bus operating outside the | ||
boundaries of a municipality; or | ||
(2) a [ |

in combination with a semitrailer, or semitrailer in combination | ||
with a towing vehicle that has at least four tires on the rearmost | ||
axle of the vehicle or the rearmost vehicle in the combination. | ||
(a-1) A vehicle described by Subsection (a) shall be | ||
equipped with safety guards or flaps that: | ||
(1) are of a type prescribed by the department; and | ||
(2) are located and suspended behind the rearmost | ||
wheels of the vehicle or the rearmost vehicle in the combination | ||
within eight inches of the surface of the highway. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
