BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 24.194, Government Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsections (e) and (f) to read as follows: | ||
(e) Subsection (f) applies to the 92nd, 93rd, 139th, 206th, | ||
275th, 332nd, 370th, 389th, 398th, 430th, and 449th judicial | ||
districts. | ||
(f) The judges of the district courts listed in Subsection | ||
(e) by agreement shall designate one of the listed district courts | ||
to give preference to family law matters. | ||
SECTION 2. Not later than October 2, 2017, the judges of the | ||
district courts listed in Section 24.194(e), Government Code, as | ||
added by this Act, shall by agreement designate a listed court as | ||
the court to give preference to family law matters. If the judges | ||
fail to designate a court to give preference to family law matters | ||
on or before October 2, 2017, the local administrative judge for | ||
Hidalgo County district courts shall designate a district court to | ||
give preference to family law matters not later than October 6, | ||
2017. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
