relating to the creation of a disaster case management system by the | ||
General Land Office. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 418, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 418.193 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 418.193. DISASTER CASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. (a) The | ||
General Land Office shall develop and maintain an electronic | ||
disaster case management system. The system must: | ||
(1) collect all information needed to obtain disaster | ||
assistance from an individual who needs housing-related assistance | ||
as a result of a disaster; and | ||
(2) allow the individual to designate the entities to | ||
which an application for assistance and other information may be | ||
sent, including the General Land Office, organized volunteer | ||
groups, and local nonprofit organizations. | ||
(b) The General Land Office may coordinate with federal, | ||
state, and local agencies and nongovernmental entities, including | ||
private nonprofit organizations, for use of the system under | ||
Subsection (a) to gather data from and share information with and | ||
between those entities to streamline applications submitted by | ||
individual households to relevant disaster assistance providers. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
