relating to creating abbreviated educator preparation programs for | ||
certification in marketing education and certification in health | ||
science technology education. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 21, Education Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 21.0444 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 21.0444. EDUCATOR PREPARATION PROGRAMS FOR MARKETING | ||
EDUCATION CERTIFICATE AND FOR HEALTH SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION | ||
CERTIFICATE. (a) The board shall propose rules under this | ||
subchapter to create abbreviated educator preparation programs for | ||
a person seeking: | ||
(1) a certification to teach courses in marketing; and | ||
(2) a certification to teach courses in health science | ||
technology. | ||
(b) In proposing rules for educator preparation programs | ||
under this section, the board shall ensure that each program | ||
requires at least 200 hours of coursework or training. | ||
SECTION 2. The State Board for Educator Certification shall | ||
propose rules establishing standards to govern the approval and | ||
renewal of approval of educator preparation programs for | ||
certification in marketing education and certification in health | ||
science technology education. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the | ||
legislative session. |
