| relating to the commission of family violence as grounds for an | ||
| annulment of a marriage. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 6, Family Code, is amended | ||
| by adding Section 6.1101 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 6.1101. FAMILY VIOLENCE. The court may grant an | ||
| annulment of a marriage to a party to the marriage if the court | ||
| finds that the other party to the marriage has committed family | ||
| violence, as defined by Section 71.004, against the party. | ||
| SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a | ||
| marriage regardless of whether the marriage was entered into | ||
| before, on, or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
