| serve as Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 302.0121, Texas Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding subsection (f) to read as follows: | ||
| (f) No speaker candidate shall be permitted to file a | ||
| declaration of candidacy with the Texas Ethics Commission if the | ||
| speaker candidate has already served as speaker of the house of | ||
| representatives for two complete regular sessions of the | ||
| legislature. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
