relating to the private practice of law by a judge of the County | ||
Court at Law of Starr County on commissioners court approval. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 25.2162, Government Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
(d) On approval of the Commissioners Court of Starr County, | ||
the judge of a county court at law may engage in the private | ||
practice of law but may not appear and plead as an attorney in any | ||
court of record in this state or in any court over which the judge | ||
has appellate jurisdiction. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
