relating to the suspension of the license of a dishonorably | ||
discharged law enforcement officer. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 1701.4521(a), Occupations Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(a) The commission shall suspend the license of an officer | ||
licensed under this chapter on notification that the officer has | ||
been dishonorably discharged [ |

SECTION 2. (a) In this section, "dishonorably discharged" | ||
has the meaning assigned by Section 1701.452, Occupations Code. | ||
(b) Section 1701.4521(a), Occupations Code, as amended by | ||
this Act, applies only to the suspension of a license issued under | ||
Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, for a law enforcement officer who | ||
is dishonorably discharged on or after the effective date of this | ||
Act. The suspension of a license for a law enforcement officer who | ||
is dishonorably discharged before the effective date of this Act is | ||
governed by the law as it existed immediately before the effective | ||
date of this Act, and that law is continued in effect for that | ||
purpose. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
