relating to the eligibility requirements for appointment as county | ||
elections administrator. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 31.034, Election Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
Sec. 31.034. ELIGIBILITY. (a) To be eligible for | ||
appointment as county elections administrator, a person must: | ||
(1) be a qualified voter of the state; and | ||
(2) have received a bachelor's degree from an | ||
accredited college or university. | ||
(b) A person who served as a county elections administrator | ||
on or before September 1, 2011, is exempt from the educational | ||
requirements prescribed by Subsection (a)(2). | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
