AN ACT
  relating to the continuation of spousal maintenance ordered under
  certain circumstances.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 8.054(d), Family Code, is amended to
  read as follows:
         (d)  The continuation of maintenance ordered under
  Subsection (b) is subject to the procedural requirements for a
  motion to modify as provided by Section 8.057.
         SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies to a
  motion to continue spousal maintenance under Subchapter B, Chapter
  8, Family Code, that is made on or after the effective date of this
  Act, regardless of whether the original spousal maintenance order
  was rendered before, on, or after that date.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
