A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to requiring the Department of Family and Protective
  Services to notify certain organizations regarding the adoption of
  certain children.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 264, Family Code, is
  amended by adding Section 264.208 to read as follows:
         Sec. 264.208.  NOTIFICATION OF ADOPTION TO CERTAIN ENTITIES.  
  (a)  In this section, "faith-based organization" has the meaning
  assigned by Section 264.113(a).
         (b)  If the department has entered into a memorandum of
  understanding with a faith-based organization that authorizes the
  organization to share information about children in the
  department's conservatorship who are available for adoption, the
  department shall notify the faith-based organization when a child
  whose information has been shared with the organization is adopted.
         (c)  The department shall provide the notice required by
  Subsection (b) not later than the end of the fifth business day
  after the date the adoption order is rendered.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
