diseases and any life-threatening diseases or conditions. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 501, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 501.0545 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 501.0545. INMATE TESTING FOR COMMUNICABLE DISEASES AND | ||
LIFE-THREATENING DISEASES OR CONDITIONS. (a) In this section, | ||
"communicable disease" has the meaning assigned by Section 81.003, | ||
Health and Safety Code. | ||
(b) Before discharging an inmate or releasing an inmate on | ||
parole, mandatory supervision, or conditional pardon, the | ||
department shall test the inmate for communicable diseases and any | ||
life-threatening diseases or conditions. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
