relating to the study of certain municipal transit systems by the | ||
Texas Transportation Institute. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Chapter 461, Transportation Code, is amended by | ||
adding Section 461.0101 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 461.0101. STUDY OF TRANSIT SYSTEMS IN CERTAIN | ||
MUNICIPALITIES. (a) The Texas Transportation Institute shall | ||
conduct a study of the transit systems of Grand Prairie and | ||
Arlington. | ||
(b) In the study the Texas Transportation Institute shall: | ||
(1) identify: | ||
(A) the deficiencies in the municipalities' | ||
transit systems; | ||
(B) the causes of the deficiencies; and | ||
(C) options to address the deficiencies; | ||
(2) suggest improvements to the transit systems; and | ||
(3) identify: | ||
(A) the economic benefits of the suggested | ||
improvements; | ||
(B) the demographic and economic makeup of the | ||
population most affected by the suggested improvements; | ||
(C) the geographic areas most affected by the | ||
improvements; and | ||
(D) the cost of the improvements. | ||
(c) The Texas Transportation Institute shall submit the | ||
study to the legislature not later than December 31, 2016. | ||
(d) This section expires January 1, 2017. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
