| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Title 1, Chapter 36, Code of Criminal Procedure, | ||
| is amended by adding Subsection 36.44 to read as follows: | ||
| Art. 36.44. Directed Verdicts. No directed verdict, or its | ||
| functional equivalent, may be granted prior to the jury having | ||
| rendered its verdict | ||

| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | ||
