BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 31.002, Education Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (5) to read as follows: | ||
(5) “Bundle” means one or more instructional materials, as | ||
defined by this chapter, that are sold together for one price. | ||
SECTION 2. Chapter 31, Education Code, is amended by adding | ||
Section 31.0216 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 31.0216. BUNDLING OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS. (a) A | ||
school district or open-enrollment charter school entitled to an | ||
allotment under Section 31.0211 (a), Education Code shall not | ||
purchase instructional materials or technology from a publisher or | ||
vendor that bundles instructional materials. | ||
(b) It is an exception to the application of this section if | ||
a school district or open-enrollment charter school deems that the | ||
bundling of instructional materials or technology from a publisher | ||
or vendor is beneficial. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
