BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 662.003(c), Government Code, is amended | ||
to read as follows: | ||
(c) An "optional holiday" includes any religious holiday | ||

SECTION 2. Section 662.006, Government Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
(d) A state employee must give the employing state agency | ||
reasonable notice of the employee's intent to take a paid day off on | ||
an optional holiday. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
