BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 434.022 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 434.022. FEASIBILITY STUDY ON VETERANS AS SCHOOL | ||
SECURITY PERSONNEL. (a) The commission, the Texas Workforce | ||
Commission, and the Texas Education Agency shall jointly study the | ||
feasibility of establishing an interagency program to connect | ||
veterans seeking employment in school security positions with | ||
independent school districts seeking to employ security personnel. | ||
(b) Not later than June 1, 2014, the commission, the Texas | ||
Workforce Commission, and the Texas Education Agency shall report | ||
the results of the study, its findings, and any recommendations to | ||
the legislature. | ||
(c) This section expires September 1, 2015. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
