relating to the location of a polling place. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 43.031, Election Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: | ||
(f) In a county with a population of less than 3.3 million, a | ||
location may not serve as a polling place if a candidate for an | ||
elective office, including an office of a political party, or a | ||
person related to the candidate within the third degree by | ||
consanguinity or the second degree by affinity, as determined under | ||
Chapter 573, Government Code, owns the location, or is an owner or | ||
principal of a business operating at the location. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
