relating to the applicability of certain laws relating to | ||
contingent fee contracts for legal services entered into by certain | ||
political subdivisions. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 2254.102(e), Government Code, is amended | ||
to read as follows: | ||
(e) This subchapter does not apply to a contract for legal | ||
services entered into under Section 6.30, Tax Code, Article | ||
103.0031, Code of Criminal Procedure, Sections 11.38(b-1) and | ||
61.36(b-1), Alcoholic Beverage Code, or Section 1201.027 of this | ||
code except that Sections 2254.1032, 2254.1034, 2254.1036, and | ||
2254.1037 of this code do apply to the contract. | ||
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
to a contract entered into on or after the effective date of this | ||
Act. A contract entered into before the effective date of this Act | ||
is governed by the law in effect immediately before the effective | ||
date of this Act, and that law is continued in effect for that | ||
purpose. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
