| relating to the labeling of products as milk and milk products. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 435.001, Health and Safety Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Subdivisions (2-a) and (2-b) to read as follows: | ||
| (2-a) "Milk" means a liquid secreted by the mammary | ||
| glands of female mammals. | ||
| (2-b) "Milk product" means a product containing milk. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 435.007, Health and Safety Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
| (d) A person may not represent, label, or advertise a | ||
| product as: | ||
| (1) milk if the product is not milk; or | ||
| (2) a milk product if the product is not a milk | ||
| product. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
