relating to the removal of electronic voting system equipment from | ||
the polling place. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 125.063, Election Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
Sec. 125.063. SECURING EQUIPMENT ON CLOSE OF VOTING. (a) An | ||
election officer may not disassemble or remove electronic voting | ||
system equipment or any component of the equipment from the polling | ||
place until the close of voting. | ||
(b) On the close of voting at each polling place at which | ||
electronic voting system equipment is used, an election officer | ||
shall secure or inactivate the equipment as prescribed by the | ||
secretary of state so that its unauthorized operation is prevented. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
