BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 51.3062, Education Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (i-5) to read as follows: | ||
(i-5) In September and February of each year, a public | ||
junior college shall notify a school district of the number of | ||
students who received a high school diploma from the district and | ||
who the junior college referred to developmental coursework to | ||
address the student's deficiencies in the student's readiness to | ||
perform freshman-level academic coursework. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
