relating to breast-feeding policies of state agency worksites. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 165.003, Health and Safety Code, is | ||
amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | ||
(c) The department shall annually submit a list of state | ||
agencies that are included on the list of "mother-friendly" | ||
businesses maintained under Subsection (b) to the standing | ||
committees of the house and senate with jurisdiction over the | ||
department. | ||
SECTION 2. Subchapter A, Chapter 165, Health and Safety | ||
Code, is amended by adding Section 165.0035 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 165.0035. STATE AGENCY "MOTHER-FRIENDLY" WORKSITE. | ||
(a) In this section, "state agency" means a board, commission, | ||
office, department, or other agency in the executive, judicial, or | ||
legislative branch of state government, including an institution of | ||
higher education as defined by Section 61.003, Education Code. | ||
(b) To the extent reasonably practicable, each state agency | ||
shall develop a policy supporting the practice of worksite | ||
breast-feeding under Section 165.003 and submit its policy to the | ||
department. | ||
(c) The department shall include each state agency that | ||
develops a policy under this section on the list of | ||
"mother-friendly" businesses under Section 165.003. | ||
SECTION 3. A state agency shall comply with Section | ||
165.0035, Health and Safety Code, as added by this Act, not later | ||
than September 1, 2019. | ||
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
