relating to bailiffs in the county courts at law of Tarrant County. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 25.2222, Government Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
(c) At least one bailiff shall be assigned regularly to each | ||
of the county courts at law of Tarrant County. | ||
(c-1) The judge of each respective county court at law of | ||
Tarrant County may appoint one officer to act as bailiff of the | ||
judge's court. The bailiff appointed by the judge serves at the | ||
pleasure of the county court to which a bailiff is appointed, holds | ||
office at the will of the judge of the county court to which a | ||
bailiff is appointed, and shall perform the duties required by the | ||
judge of the court to which the bailiff is appointed. | ||
(c-2) If the judge of a county court at law of Tarrant County | ||
does not appoint an officer to act as bailiff, the sheriff of | ||
Tarrant County shall assign a bailiff for said court upon written | ||
request of the judge. The bailiff assigned by the sheriff serves at | ||
the pleasure of the county court to which a bailiff is assigned, and | ||
shall perform the duties required by the judge of the court to which | ||
the bailiff is assigned. | ||
(c-3) Upon request of a county court at law judge, the | ||
sheriff shall immediately assign a bailiff to the county court at | ||
law to fill any temporary absence of the regularly appointed or | ||
assigned bailiff. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
