relating to educational information regarding co-parenting on
dissolution of a marriage.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 6.406, Family Code, is amended by adding
Subsection (c) to read as follows:
(c) If the suit for dissolution of a marriage includes a
suit affecting the parent-child relationship under Subsection (b),
the court shall provide the parties with a written notice that
includes the following statement:
"It is the policy of the State of Texas that the best
interests of the child shall always be the primary consideration of
courts when determining issues of conservatorship and possession of
and access to children in family law matters. Issues involving
children of parents who are divorced or separated can often be very
challenging for everyone involved. Parents are encouraged to seek
out and utilize available resources and support organizations in
their communities that can assist them in facilitating successful
co-parenting of their children."
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
to a suit for dissolution of a marriage filed on or after the
effective date of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
