hospital. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 241, Health and Safety | ||
Code, is amended by adding Section 241.012 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 241.012. TRAINING FOR GOVERNING BODY OF RURAL | ||
HOSPITAL. (a) In this section, "rural hospital" means a hospital | ||
licensed under this chapter that is: | ||
(1) located in a county with a population of less than | ||
60,000; or | ||
(2) designated by the Centers for Medicare and | ||
Medicaid Services as a critical access hospital, rural referral | ||
center, or sole community hospital and is not located in an area | ||
defined by the United States Office of Management and Budget as a | ||
metropolitan statistical area. | ||
(b) A rural hospital shall provide to a member of the | ||
hospital's governing body, on the member's request, an education | ||
and training course on the governing body's powers and duties and | ||
other appropriate topics. | ||
(c) The course provided under Subsection (b) must be: | ||
(1) developed using requirements and standards | ||
determined by the Center for Optimizing Rural Health of the Texas | ||
A&M Rural and Community Health Institute or a successor | ||
organization; | ||
(2) provided at no cost to the requesting member; and | ||
(3) available in an electronic format. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
