| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. As soon as practicable after the effective date | ||
| of this Act, the Public Utility Commission of Texas, in cooperation | ||
| with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, shall petition | ||
| the office of nuclear reactor regulation of the federal Nuclear | ||
| Regulatory Commission to obtain by delegation the authority to | ||
| issue permits for nuclear power reactor operators. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
