relating to a study by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute on | ||
wireless energy transmission for electric vehicles. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. STUDY ON WIRELESS ENERGY TRANSMISSION FOR | ||
ELECTRIC VEHICLES. (a) The Texas A&M Transportation Institute, in | ||
consultation with the Texas Department of Transportation, shall | ||
conduct a study on wireless energy transmission for electric | ||
vehicles. | ||
(b) The study must: | ||
(1) assess the various methods, including the use of | ||
magnetic induction, to transfer power wirelessly to electric | ||
vehicles while the vehicles are in motion; | ||
(2) evaluate the feasibility of implementing the | ||
methods described by Subdivision (1) of this subsection on roads in | ||
this state; | ||
(3) identify roads, with priority given to toll roads, | ||
for implementation of the methods described by Subdivision (1) of | ||
this subsection; and | ||
(4) estimate the financial and any other benefits to | ||
this state of implementing the methods described by Subdivision (1) | ||
of this subsection. | ||
(c) Not later than September 1, 2026, the Texas A&M | ||
Transportation Institute shall submit a report to the legislature | ||
that includes the results of the study and any associated | ||
recommendations. | ||
SECTION 2. EXPIRATION. This Act expires December 31, 2026. | ||
SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September | ||
1, 2025. |
