A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to a review of physician licensing standards of other
  countries.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  (a)  In this section, "board" means the Texas
  Medical Board.
         (b)  The board shall review physician licensing standards,
  including education requirements, of other countries to identify
  those countries with standards comparable to those of this state.
         (c)  Not later than December 1, 2024, the board shall submit
  a report containing the results of the review conducted under
  Subsection (b) of this section to the governor, the lieutenant
  governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, and each
  standing committee of the legislature with primary jurisdiction
  over the board.
         SECTION 2.  This Act expires January 1, 2025.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
