| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. (a) In this section, "board" means the Texas | ||
| Medical Board. | ||
| (b) The board shall review physician licensing standards, | ||
| including education requirements, of other countries to identify | ||
| those countries with standards comparable to those of this state. | ||
| (c) Not later than December 1, 2024, the board shall submit | ||
| a report containing the results of the review conducted under | ||
| Subsection (b) of this section to the governor, the lieutenant | ||
| governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, and each | ||
| standing committee of the legislature with primary jurisdiction | ||
| over the board. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act expires January 1, 2025. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
