BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 22, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 22.021 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 22.021. RULES CONCERNING ABATEMENT OF CERTAIN | ||
EXPEDITED FORECLOSURE PROCEEDINGS. The supreme court shall adopt | ||
rules of civil procedure providing for abatement, in appropriate | ||
cases, of expedited foreclosure proceedings described by Section | ||
50(r), Article XVI, Texas Constitution, to facilitate completion of | ||
a loan modification effort while preserving the expedited character | ||
of proceedings conducted under Rule 736, Texas Rules of Civil | ||
Procedure. | ||
SECTION 2. The Supreme Court of Texas shall initiate | ||
proceedings to adopt rules under Section 22.021, Government Code, | ||
as added by this Act, on or before the 90th day after the effective | ||
date of this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
