| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 372, Transportation Code, | ||
| is amended by adding Section 372.059 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 372.059. ONE-YEAR TOLL MORATORIUM. (a) | ||
| Notwithstanding any other law, a toll project entity may not charge | ||
| a toll for use of a toll project between September 1, 2023, and | ||
| August 31, 2024. | ||
| (b) The department shall make all required payments on all | ||
| obligations of a toll project entity that are payable from or | ||
| secured by revenues of a toll project, including bonds or interest | ||
| on those bonds. | ||
| (c) This section expires September 1, 2024. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
