| relating to a reporting requirement for public schools regarding | ||
| instructional materials and technology. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 31.004, Education Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsections (c) and (d) to read as follows: | ||
| (c) As part of the annual certification required under | ||
| Subsection (a), each school district and open-enrollment charter | ||
| school shall prepare a list that specifically identifies the | ||
| instructional materials provided to each student by the district or | ||
| school that cover each element of the essential knowledge and | ||
| skills. | ||
| (d) The commissioner shall adopt rules as necessary to | ||
| implement this section. The rules must include the format in which | ||
| each school district and open-enrollment charter school must | ||
| provide the list required under Subsection (c). | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020 | ||
| school year. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
