A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to adjustment of a school district's wealth per student
  under the school finance system to reflect campus security costs.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 41.001(2), Education Code, is amended to
  read as follows:
               (2)  "Wealth per student" means the taxable value of
  property, as determined under Subchapter M, Chapter 403, Government
  Code, divided by the number of students in weighted average daily
  attendance and adjusted in accordance with Section 41.0011.
         SECTION 2.  Subchapter A, Chapter 41, Education Code, is
  amended by adding Section 41.0011 to read as follows:
         Sec. 41.0011.  ADJUSTMENT OF WEALTH PER STUDENT FOR CAMPUS
  SECURITY COSTS. The commissioner shall adjust a school district's
  wealth per student by deducting the amount of revenue per student in
  weighted average daily attendance expended by the district to pay
  campus security costs during the preceding school year.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
