BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 434.026 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 434.026. VETERANS SUICIDE PREVENTION PUBLIC AWARENESS | ||
CAMPAIGN. (a) The Texas Veterans Commission, in collaboration | ||
with the Health and Human Services Commission, shall develop and | ||
implement a public awareness campaign to: | ||
(1) increase public awareness of suicide risk factors | ||
for veterans, including risk factors specific to women veterans; | ||
and | ||
(2) provide information relating to, and increase | ||
awareness of, suicide prevention services and organizations | ||
available to veterans, including services and organizations that | ||
address the needs of women veterans. | ||
(b) In implementing the campaign, the Texas Veterans | ||
Commission may engage in online advocacy, issue public service | ||
announcements, and distribute materials that cover the topics | ||
described by Subsection (a). | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
