| relating to the authority of a municipality to remove directors of | ||
| certain conservation and reclamation districts. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Chapter 178, Local Government Code, is amended | ||
| by adding Subchapter Z to read as follows: | ||
| SUBCHAPTER Z. MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS | ||
| Sec. 178.901. REMOVAL OF DIRECTORS APPOINTED BY | ||
| MUNICIPALITY TO CERTAIN BOARDS. Notwithstanding any other law, a | ||
| director of a conservation and reclamation district created under | ||
| Section 59, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, who is appointed by | ||
| the governing body of a municipality, serves at the pleasure of the | ||
| governing body and may be removed by the governing body at any time | ||
| without cause. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
