relating to requirements for the use on this state's international | ||
border of security cameras and for camera data storage from those | ||
cameras. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 411.00951 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 411.00951. REQUIREMENTS FOR BORDER SECURITY CAMERAS | ||
AND DATA STORAGE. In any program the department establishes to | ||
monitor this state's international border, the department may only: | ||
(1) use security cameras manufactured in the United | ||
States by a company whose headquarters are located in the United | ||
States; and | ||
(2) store data retrieved from the security cameras | ||
described by Subdivision (1) on data storage devices located in the | ||
United States and operated by a company whose headquarters are | ||
located in the United States. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 411.00951, Government Code, as added by | ||
this Act, applies only to a contract for the purchase of security | ||
cameras or the storage of data from security cameras entered into on | ||
or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect February 1, 2022. |
