BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 132, Education Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 132.0221 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 132.0221. CAREER SCHOOL OR COLLEGE DATABASE | ||
INFORMATION. (a) To facilitate a consumer's informed selection | ||
among career schools and colleges, the commission shall include in | ||
its searchable database of licensed career schools and colleges the | ||
student loan default rates and average per-student student loan | ||
debt of each career school or college in addition to any other | ||
information the commission considers appropriate for inclusion in | ||
the database. | ||
(b) Each career school or college shall provide to a | ||
prospective student, before the student's enrollment in the school | ||
or college, the most recent information included in the | ||
commission's database regarding the school or college. | ||
SECTION 2. The Texas Workforce Commission shall ensure that | ||
its searchable database of licensed career schools and colleges | ||
includes the information prescribed by Section 132.0221, Education | ||
Code, as added by this Act, not later than January 1, 2022. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
