relating to posting notice of a meeting of a governmental body on | ||
the Internet instead of in a newspaper. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 551, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 551.057 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 551.057. INTERNET POSTING INSTEAD OF NEWSPAPER | ||
POSTING. Notwithstanding any other law, a governmental body that | ||
is required by law to post notice of a meeting in a newspaper may | ||
instead post notice of the meeting on the Internet. A governmental | ||
body that is required by law to post notice of a meeting on the | ||
Internet is not required to post notice in a newspaper. | ||
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to | ||
notice of a meeting that is required to be posted on or after the | ||
effective date of this Act. Notice that is required to be posted | ||
before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in | ||
effect at that time, and that law is continued in effect for that | ||
purpose. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
