| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 2113.107, Government Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (h) to read as follows: | ||
| (h) In this subsection, "state agency" includes the | ||
| legislature and an agency in the legislative branch of state | ||
| government. Except as provided by this subsection, a state agency | ||
| may not use appropriated money to purchase a periodical. This | ||
| subsection does not apply to a purchase for or by a state library or | ||
| archive or an institution of higher education library. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
