A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the categories of performance for which a public school
  campus may receive a distinction designation.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 39.203(c), Education Code, is amended to
  read as follows:
         (c)  In addition to the distinction designations described
  by Subsections (a) and (b), a campus that satisfies the criteria
  developed under Section 39.204 shall be awarded a distinction
  designation by the commissioner for the following programs or the
  following specific categories of performance:
               (1)  academic achievement in English language arts,
  mathematics, science, or social studies;
               (2)  fine arts;
               (3)  physical and health education and wellness;
               (4)  21st Century Workforce Development program; and
               (5)  second language acquisition program.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
